Intercity MOD

Wer ab 1971 mit dem Intercity auf deutschen Schienen unterwegs war, der reiste stets "erstklassig" – denn eine 2. Klasse gab es im IC damals schlicht nicht.
Doch die Nachfrage war groß. So nahm im Jahr 1979 der neue verbesserte Intercity der Bundesbahn die Fahrt auf. Fortan verfügte der IC auch über Wagen der 2. Klasse und verkehrte mit einer Frequenz im Stundentakt zudem deutlich häufiger als zuvor. „Intercity. Jede Stunde, jede Klasse.“ lautete der damalige Werbespruch der Bundesbahn.
